Cannabis Leaf Found In Wallet

Police found a foil of cannabis leaf in the wallet of an apprentice electrician after chasing him, Ryde Court was told this week.
John Baptiste Cavaleri, 19, of Lane Cove Road, Ryde, pleaded guilty to possessing 700 milligrams of cannabis leaf at Meadowbank on September 16. The magistrate, Mr Darcy Leo, fined him $100.
Facts tendered by the prosecution said police saw Cavaleri at 9.27pm running along a railway bridge. They called for him to stop but he kept going. They pursued him and caught him at the rear of a property in Bank Street. They searched him and found a foil of green vegetable matter in his wallet.
Cavaleri admitted owning it and said it was marijuana which he had bought at a hotel for $10.
Mr Dennis Grant, defending, said it was Cavaleri's first drug offence.
