Drunk Driver Arrested Twice Within Eight Days

AN APPRENTICE electrician who was arrested on St Patrick's Day for his second, high-range drink driving offence in a week was refused bail in Newcastle Court yesterday.
In facts before the court yesterday police said when told his blood alcohol reading was 0.150 the driver said: `That's exactly the same as last week.'
Mark Jacob Love, 20, of Burns St, Redhead appeared in custody yesterday. He pleaded guilty to charges of high-range drink driving, driving in a dangerous manner and driving while his licence was suspended.
Police said in facts tendered to the court that they saw Love driving his car at high speed along Beaumont St, Hamilton at 5.25am on Saturday.
They followed and Love reached speeds of 110kmh through Denison St, Blackall St and Everton St before police were able to stop him in Samdon St.
Police said Love had his licence confiscated after he was stopped for high-range drink driving on March 10.
Magistrate Michael Morahan remanded Love in custody for sentencing today and ordered an urgent pre-sentence report.
